Miller
Body-centered energy work & Pilates Instructor
Pursuing the health sciences at a young age, I worked in various hospitals,
institutions and middle homes with Pediatric AIDS patients, patients with
chronic and terminal illness, and with geriatric and psychiatric populations.
I went on obtain a degree in psychology at Duke University, with a focus on
behavioral medicine and sports psychology.
Throughout my four years in Durham, I worked at Duke Hospital and in the Duke
Center for Living with researchers, physicians and courageous patients, all
of whom offered me the invaluable opportunity to experience and understand
psychosomatic responses in the body. Empowering individuals from differing
socioeconomic backgrounds, all involved in their individual processes with
dis-ease and pain, and supporting them through transformation to improve their
own health and imbue their lives with hope was an infinite gift. Stepping
away from a pre-med tract at school, thinking myself to be part of a different
tribe, I began to parallel my studies in behavioral medicine with sports and
performance enhancement psychology.
I took up temporary residence in Lake Nona, Florida to intern with Dr. Jim
Loehr at LGE Performance Systems, working with world class, professional and
Olympic athletes to develop physical, nutritional and mental training regimens.
I accepted a job to continue working with Loehr but quickly realized that
my own health was in decline and that I was readying myself to traverse my
own path to health and wholeness, practicing what I preached.
During a long medical leave due to diagnoses of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia
and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I came across healing modalities of alternate
ethnic origin and pursued complimentary and alternative medicine. Mostly,
I did not fit modern western medicine’s yardstick. From 1997 to 2002,
I went from being completely bedridden, immobilized from indescribable pain,
and severely cognitively impaired, to fully well and healed. These days I
am trail running, skiing, cycling, kiteboarding and whitewater kayaking, counting
every blissed-out moment of it as a miracle and a blessing. I reversed RA
and returned to full health, in great part due to having met Jan.
I have been active in Systemic Constellation work since Jan introduced it
to me in 2000 and I find Jan’s approach to and practice of shamanic
healing to be the essential piece in my education as a healer and astrologer.
After a stint in the ‘Gorge’, where Oregon and Washington shore
up to the Columbia River Gorge, I am back living in Boulder to continue my
studies with Jan and with Pilates Master Teacher, Pat Guyton. I also volunteer
with Boulder Hospice Care.
In 2004 I started my own PR and marketing company, Wind & Water Communications,
servicing clients in varying industries including the outdoor, adventure and
extreme sport, health and green industries. I enjoy supporting individuals
in growing well-intentioned businesses with green and sustainable practices
and products, using conscientious communications to connect.
Jan’s ineffable light carries in her laugh, her sincerity, her healing
practice, and in all that she is a part of. I am altogether grateful for everything
she imparts to me, to our community and to the whole.
